I can see clearly now...

...too bad the forecast is for thunderstorms, cause these guys have been washing the windows on our high rise for the last four days. We were lucky enough to be home to catch them rappelling down in front of our kitchen one afternoon and Sal got a kick out of the man outside our window who was smoking a cigarette with one hand while wiping windows clean with the other.

This was an unexpected treat for us. Our windows were looking a little worse for the wear, with all the recent rains and smog filled days literally leaving a thick film of grime between us and our view.

Keeping my fingers crossed we get at least a week without rain so I can enjoy our view again!

Him vs Her

I should really start a blog, simply titled, " $hitmyhusbandsays.com " to chronicle the many exchanges we have. Most are comical. Most would only drive the fact home that we are geeks.
There, I said it. Geek-Love, got some?

We had an exchange last week which I will call "Him vs Her" and the premise behind this exchange was his discovery of a newly placed framed piece of art ( A framed vintage Coppertone girl ad) on one of the ledge shelves in our living room. For the record: It had been there for a couple weeks before he noticed it.

NZ: (looking at the shelves behind our sofa): "How'd that picture get up there?"

Me: " It's been up there a couple weeks, I moved it from one room to another because it goes with my theme out here."

NZ: " I liked it better with just that vase up there."

Me: " But it's my shelf. I got it for Christmas."

NZ: " No you didn't, I bought it. I should have a say in what goes on it"

Me: " No, I got one for Christmas and bought the other one with Christmas money, boo-yah!"

NZ: " I'll buy it off you."

This conversation is probably not so funny if you don't know Nick and his minimalist attitude. He clearly preferred the previous arrangement of a single vase on a 3 foot long shelf, whereas his blushing bride prefered to have the vase and the framed picture on it.

She won.

Post by post

Earlier this year our fence fell down between our house and the neighbors..NZ removed all 100+ feet of it so he could "do it right" and make one that can weather 40MPH winds. The previous owner of our home thought he was a handy-man, but he was sadly mistaken...and he built a fence with no ground to stand on. Literally. Thanks to NZ and our neighbor ( not the one who lives on the other side fo the fence) this was a 3 day project, and even I stepped it up and helped set the metal posts and pour concrete with NZ one day. Which means, I fulfilled my outdoor duties in the dirt for a good year now. If you've been following my blog over the past year and a half, you know, I am not a fan of dirt.

This weekend he's building a gate, which we didn't have before, so then when we pour concrete for the patio out back, we will also pour down the sideyard all the way to the street so we can utilize some extra driveway space and move our trash cans out to the sideyard instead of the garage.

It's really coming along, and becoming our idea of what our home should be...I feel lucky that I married a man that knows how to do "man things" and does them well. He's no stranger to a hammer and nails and can fix just about anything..It doesn't hurt that he's a real good looker to boot.
