He needs to know that...Consequences sometimes hurt. He needs to know that.

EXACTLY. I am very much this kind of mom-- who wants her kids to learn and make their choices. That would totally be me in Target with Benjamin.

And... that happened to me just a few days ago. I had a number of people yell over from about 10 feet away to tell me Claire was getting out of that cart that holds the baggage at the airport. She had one leg out but was stuck and couldn't get out anymore, but was trying. I knew this. I saw this. They said, "She's getting out!" And to which I replied, "She's not though. She's not out."

I was jogging one day last summer with both kids in the BOB and Benjamin was dangling his legs backwards over the stroller. But if you know BOB strollers, they are huge and long. He had SO much space. He was upset, but never once fell off that stroller or got even close. I had visual (as I was right behind him!) the whole time. I had MANY stares and a woman came out of her house to tell me jogging at 5mph that my son was falling out of the stroller as though I was some negligent parent.

No, I just believe in him learning. I like him making choices, too. And yes. I will totally leave him in his carseat to tantrum or let my kids cry it out (when all needs have been met). They are safe and loved and learning.

Suck it, judgmental people.B. You never know what kind of day someone is having and a smile or kind words can have a great impact on their day.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18134461014703051811noreply@blogger.com
